OBEDIENT, YET MIGHTY

I am an obedient servant

To those who have me.

They send me to the banks,

In their assets and projects.

Whatever they tell me to do,

I do.

Wherever they tell me to go,

I go.

They put me in places that multiply me

And not subtract from me.

They use me optimistically

For they my value,

My power, splendor and influence.

I have never failed to accomplish their tasks.

For they are my masters

And I

Their humble servant

Of whom

They are so proud.

But I have remained a wish

To those lazy dreamers.

For they only imagine a life with me

But fail to work for me.

They send me to the bars

To bring them booze.

They send me to the “pork joints”

To buy them that greasy and fatty meat.

Little do they know

That they are reducing their time with me.

Sooner or later,

They will cry when I am gone.

Some say

That I am sweet.

Yet I am tasteless

And completely inedible.

Others –

The feeble-minded of course,

Say that I am mere guest.

Here today and gone tomorrow.

But the famed wealthy men can vividly tell you

How nice servant I really am.

 I fail to do nothing

But accomplish everything.

For I am powerful and influential.

And my name is

MONEY.
