MY MOTHER'S LEGACY
Mother used to tell me
Never to lose hope
Even when things become bitter.
She used to encourage me
Never to give up
Even when I felt that I had to.
She was the only woman who could sacrifice
Her own happiness
For the sake of mine.
She was the only person who minded most
About my tears
Even she herself
Was crying.
But now
She is only in my imagination.
She resides no more
In this physical world.
Mother used never to lie
And never did she hide
Any sort of grudge.
She always was
A peace lover
Truth-filled and just.
Her hands gave a lot
And her heart expected not.
For she knew that in giving
She had given not to man
But to God.
Yes!
She was a staunch believer.
But now
She is like the whirlwind.
Her place on the face of the earth
Has gone vacant
Despite the unavailability of someone good enough
To be in her shoes.
Mother was a hero
All the way from a zero.
She struggled a lot
And gave up not.
In all the rest
She loved the best.
But now
She is in another land.
The land of apparitions.
Rest in peace my momma.
